Mozzarella di Bufala cheese cleared.

29 aprile 2008

Italy’s smallest and least known “Principality” is staging a special event for pipe makers and collectors on the 1 st May 2008. The self-proclaimed Principality of Seborga, 10 sq. miles of green hillside situated near the Genoa-Nice motorway in Liguria, is renowned for its spirit of initiative and independence. Although not officially recognized as a separate state, the ancient town of Seborgo (362 inhabitants, with a total population of 2000 in its pint-sized territory) coins its own currency, the “Luigina” (legal tender only in the town), issues its own car number plates (which must, however, appear beside Italian ones) and elects its own “Prince”, the present ruler being Giorgio I (otherwise known as Giorgio Carbone, floriculturist).

The tiny Principality also has its own orchestra , created in 1998 by musician (and pipe smoker) Vitaliano Gallo, who is also the creator of the Pipe Festival, launched with the slogan: “Let’s Smoke in Peace Together”.

According to Gallo, the nearby Italian Riviera of Flowers and the French Còte d’Azur have long been known to pipe makers for the quality of the heath root, from which pipes are made, known in local dialect as “U Brugu”.

RIP – Giorgio Carbone, 73, had a plan. He drew attention to missing info in Vatican documents. Then he made the locals call him ‘Your Highness.’ Then he swiped cheese. When you’re the ruler of a sovereign state, you can do that!
